Business profile Centrally located in Pretoria North, Junior Student supplies a large variety of children's books, activity books, teachers guides, colouring books and a wonderful reading program. Our company is currently making a huge impact in the education environment. Our key writer, Mrs Una Kock, has some sixteen years worth of experience in education on various levels and fields - normal teaching, special demands teaching, teachers training colleges and more. She also has vast experience as therapist in voice training and with schools with special needs. All of this experience is applied in the books we supply. Our books are available in Afrikaans and English and many have already been translated into Tswana, Xhosa and Zulu. We are also negotiating for works to be translated in more African languages, - Sepedi and Sesotho being two of them. Our books have been approved by the education department and are used mostly in primary schools and pre-school institutions across the country. Individuals are more than welcome to order products from us. Our "Stories from Africa" series is in high demand by suppliers and libraries countrywide. All books are colourfully illustrated and the children will enjoy them. The main purpose of our books is to teach children to read properly through the use of the older, traditional system of sound vocalisation. A child who knows how to recognise sounds from the written word has a base for recognising other words, make sense of sentences and their meaning and generally to improve his reading skills. A recent study has shown that some 61% of pupils at the end of Grade 3 are not able to read properly, as a result of incorrect reading skills being taught. The causes massive problems later - a child who cannot read properly also cannot study and learn properly. |
